Taysir Abu Saada (Tass) was born in the Gaza Strip in 1951. His parents emigrated to Saudi Arabia where he was raised as a Muslim. Tass hated Jews and the fact of Israel’s existence, and as a youth he joined the “Fatah Forces” under Arafat. He was trained as a sniper to kill Jews. He also trained children to fight and kill Jews. After coming to the United States to seek an education, he met and married an American girl, Karen. In 1993 through a supernatural encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, Tass became a “born again” believer and soon after, so did Karen. Since that time, Tass and Karen have been taking the message of peace to the people Tass hated the most (the Jews) and to the brethren he was willing to die for (the Muslims).
In 1996 they began “Hope for Ishmael”, a ministry dedicated to reconciliation between Arabs and Jews, and also “Seeds of Hope, Inc.”, a registered humanitarian organization.
Because of their dedication to reaching out in love to Muslims, many Iraqis, Filipinos, Palestinians, Americans and Europeans have seen the Gospel in action and their lives have been radically changed. Tass has authored the book “Once an Arafat Man,” the story of his journey from all consuming hate and anger to unconditional love through a relationship with Jesus Christ. At the centre of all he does, is his passion to see the gospel of reconciliation through Jesus Christ presented to Gentiles, Arabs and Jews.
Christine Sakakibara was born in Australia but she is a true Jerusalemite having lived in Israel for 37 years. All of her five children were born in Jerusalem. Living through wars and terror, Christine can testify to the saving power of God, shielding and healing her loved ones on many occasions. She is a keen observer of international news and writes regular prayer updates on the current Middle East situation. She has a ‘ministry of helps’ as detailed in 1 Corinthians 12:28.
Christine’s speaking ministry extends into the UK, USA and Australia. Her messages are seasoned with a unique sense of humour while also providing a practical approach to intercession and praying for the peace of Jerusalem. Four of her children have served in the Israeli Army, and her youngest daughter is now employed in the Air Force. This has brought her into close contact with bereaved families and grieving soldiers resulting in her having developed a deep understanding of the mental, financial and physical struggles these young people endure.
Christine is vibrantly active in her local church – the Narkis Street Congregation in Jerusalem. She serves on the leadership team, is active in their social outreach programs, preaches on a regular basis and works to raise awareness of the poor and needy in Israel.
